Why should you upgrade to Google Workspace?
Earlier, Google used to provide the legacy edition to its customers at no cost. As of December 6, 2012, it stopped offering the free edition to its new customers. G Suite, a collection of collaboration and productivity tools, was launched in 2006. Later in 2020, it was renamed and rebranded as Google Workspace. Google Workspace unlocks premium features. It provides access to all productivity apps like Gmail, Google Calendar, Meet, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and more.
Recently, Google announced that it will discontinue the G Suite legacy free edition. Existing customers with G Suite legacy free edition will have to get a paid subscription to Google Workspace, to keep using the services.
If you are someone who is using the G Suite legacy free edition of Google Apps, you should know that the free edition will be discontinued by Google from 1st July 2022 onwards.
If you are a user, you need to sign up before 1st May. If you don’t sign up for a paid subscription by the given date, Google will ask you to switch the free plan to Google Workspace paid subscription based on the features you use currently in G-suite.
And, if you fail to make payment before July 1, your subscription to Workspace will be suspended automatically. You won’t have access to Google Workspace services. It can be restored only by adding payment details.
Why Does Your Business Need Google Workspace?
As mentioned earlier, not upgrading to Workspace would result in the suspension of your account. If you are still unsure whether you should upgrade or not, take a look at the below-mentioned reasons why you should upgrade your subscription to Google Workspace:
Use Branded Email
By switching to Google Workspace, you can keep using a branded email for your business. As we all know, free Gmail provides emails ending with the @gmail.com extension. As a reputable business organization, using this extension may create an adverse impression in the minds of receivers.
Not just that, it also lets you create alias accounts so that all your business departments get emails separately. For example, [email protected], [email protected], etc.
Storage Space
Google Workspace premium subscription will allow you to store and share unlimited files via Google Drive. In the free version of Google Drive, you are allowed a storage space of up to 15 GB. Talking about the premium subscription, the storage space varies depending on the plan you select.
For example, the Business Starter plan has 30 GB of cloud storage per user, the Business Standard plan has 2 TB of cloud storage per user, and the Business Plus plan has 5 TB of cloud storage per user.
Enhance Security With Endpoint Management
Endpoint management is important; not just to enhance security but also to collect data and evaluate the performance. When it comes to security, you should never compromise. A minor loophole in the system can create big troubles.
These days, work from home culture is gaining popularity. In a survey, more than 55% of organizations reported an increase in endpoint security risk. Thus, Workspace is a way to endpoint security management.
Collaboration
No matter whether your organization has work from home culture or work from office culture, collaboration plays a significant role in both cases. Google Workspace has a wide range of apps that make collaboration with colleagues so easy.
Google’s apps like Docs, Slides, and Sheets have real-time co-editing. It means you can work with your team on the same file even if you or your team members are working remotely. Besides this, Calendar and Meet will also help you have a better communication flow with your team members.
Final Thoughts
Google Workspace provides access to plenty of premium features. The new-age method of doing business is on the rise and Google services play a vital role in helping your business adopt them with ease. If you haven’t switched from G Suite legacy free edition to Google Workspace yet, do it now.
